Romance at a Glance Reviews Dragon Actually By G.A. Aiken

aka Falling for dragons is soooo steamy

Thank you to our dear friends on Insta for recommending G.A. Aiken to us! Dragon actually was a really fun and smutty read and we were not disappointed by the steam level of this book.

Though, truth be told, we were KINDA (read 100%) hoping for some kinky dragon/human moments! Instead, we got a lot of the feels from those moments.

****Make sure you follow us on Instagram @romanceataglance we'll be raffling off G.A. Aiken's newest release!

What we discussed:

  • Fearghus was kind to her as a dragon and then the opposite as a knight.

  • Annwyl felt super comfortable in front of him as a dragon. we thought she was going to bang him as a dragon!

  • Their banter was good and I like that Annwly didn’t give any fucks. So bloodthirsty.

  • Fearghus' mother is chained up and likes it

  • Like the battle with Annwyl's brother doesn’t go on too long

  • I love that Annwyl doesn’t care about being queen she’s like “let someone else do it”

  • I don’t like that Annwyl and the dragon are apart for a year. That is just stupid.

  • The claiming.

Quick Guide Review of the Book and Notes

Book Title: Dragon Actually

Author: G.A. Aiken also Shelly Laurenston

Audio Narrator: A little lack luster for me but okay job

Part of a Series: Dragon Kin Book #1

Genre: Fantasy Romance, Dragon Romance, Paranormal Romance

Cover Art: Felt pretty old school and melodramatic to me! With the long hair and the pose and the shimmering sweat! Kind of funny. But again, bare-chested brawny dudes is never a bad thing per se!

Synopsis: It's not always easy being a female warrior with a nickname like Annwyl the Bloody. Men tend to either cower in fear—a lot—or else salute. It's true that Annwyl has a knack for decapitating legions of her ruthless brother's soldiers without pausing for breath. But just once it would be nice to be able to really talk to a man, the way she can talk to Fearghus the Destroyer.

Too bad that Fearghus is a dragon, of the large, scaly, and deadly type. With him, Annwyl feels safe—a far cry from the feelings aroused by the hard-bodied, arrogant knight Fearghus has arranged to help train her for battle. With her days spent fighting a man who fills her with fierce, heady desire, and her nights spent in the company of a magical creature who could smite a village just by exhaling, Annwyl is sure life couldn't get any stranger. She's wrong...

Favorite Lines in the Book:

Bridget:

“I won’t tolerate her hurting you, my son. I’ll kill the bitch first.”

“Weren’t you the one who tried to cut father’s throat before he Claimed you?”

"He deserved it,” — Rhiannon to Fearghus

“Absolutely. Just let one of the men touch you inappropriately and you take his arm off right at the shoulder joint. Then, as he’s bleeding to death, you slam his face into a few things, and you’ll find the other men leave you alone.” —- Annwyl

“Higher beings, eh? It must be nice.”

“You need not feel jealous. You are much better than most humans.”

Annwyl laughed outright. And Fearghus realized how much he loved to see her smile. “Why thank you, oh mighty dragon.” She curtsied low.

“Now. Now, Annwyl. No need to curtsy. A simple nod of your head and absolute worship will be more than enough.” —— Fearghus & Annwyl

I think you’re the most amazing female I’ve ever met. And I would like to fuck you all night long. Bend over. —— Fearghus in his mind to Annwyl

Favorite Review:

Shani’s from Goodreads:

Dragon interesting

Story was entaining, just a little repetitive. Narrator just sounded like she wanted to be done. Not many pauses for accent and no emotion.

Bridget’s from Goodreads:

Jilly rated iit 5 stars

….. Of course the dragon and the girl fall in love. But, she has a problem. She is also falling in love with the knight that the dragon has sent to train her. This could be an awkward triangle - especially when one of them can just incinerate the other - problem solved. Luckily, though, the knight is also the dragon. He's a shifter. Thank goodness too, because if there was going to be some weird dragon-human sex, I was out. No monster-porn for me. I mean, sure, I like blue alien porn, vampire porn, and werewolf porn, but I'm waaaay above the monster-porn. Yeah, my standards are super high.

Worth the Read?

Shani: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bridget: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ YES. This book was super fast to read, had great humor, developed the side characters and family relationships between the dragons quickly and well, and made me want to read about them. Plus, they get to the pound town with a lot of challenges and domination which was real nice.
