Romance at a Glance Reviews Fakers by Lucy Lennox & May Archer

We wanna live in Licking Thicket!

We had a great time in this town full of quirky characters enjoying Brooks and Mal's sweet and steamy romance. Brooks brings his straight co-worker Paul home to his TN town Licking Thicket to help out his family, and also put a buffer between him and his family. His HS ex who he broke up with and outed himself to in front of the whole town comes home also with a fake boyfriend... who is gay.
See where we are going with this? Hijinks ensue in a fun way as they "swap" fake partners!

Three cheers for the excellent use of lube in this book. And for mixing the sweet and steam very well.

If you missed our awesome interview with May and Lucy, make sure you check it out. They were so fun to talk to about romance and writing MM romance, writing with a partner, and how much money they make on Amazon publishing under Kindle Unlimited.

Quick Guide Review of the Book and Notes

Book Title: Fakers

Author: Lucy Lennox & May Archer - check out our interview with them here!

Audio Narrator: Michael Dean

Part of a Series: Yes! Book 1 of the Licking Thicket Series. Book 2 reviewed on our Patreon. Book 3 out 2021.

Genre: Contemporary romance, Gay Romance, LGBT Romance

Cover Art: I really like this cover and the cover idea behind the series. All men, this one with really sexy muscles and a devilish look in his eyes, and all of them are going to be covering their mouths in some way. Into it.

Synopsis: When returning to Licking Thicket, TN, for the first time in ten years to reunite with your nosy neighbors, heart-broken ex-girlfriend, and matchmaking mama who never quite believed you were gay, it’s best to bring a fake boyfriend as backup...

Just don’t be surprised when your ex-girlfriend does the same.

And when her incredibly hot fake boyfriend becomes the one island of calm in a sea of bovine-based insanity, it’s best to exercise caution… especially when he pushes you up against the rough barn wall to check you very thoroughly for splinters...

Just don’t be surprised if you fall head-over-hooves in love with him.

Hero Rating: Brooks

Shani: 🍆🍆🍆🍆 He lost a point for not communicating

Bridget: 🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆  I liked that Brooks showed his “real” self to Mal. And that he was willing to go home and help the town. And also that he realized that he loved the town and the people and they weren’t the same as when he left and he wasn’t the same. Also that he stood up to his boss and quit and kept the big client. And fucked Mal real good.

Hero Rating: Mal

Shani: 🍆🍆🍆🍆

Bridget: 🍆🍆🍆🍆 He got me when he made the sign. I assumed it was going to happen but I loved it anyway. Loved his relationship with Ava. Dropped a point for running like a PAB (pussy ass bitch!)

McDreamy to Mc Steamy:

Shani: Mc Dreamy

Bridget: McDreamy in the streets

Classy to Nasty:

Vanilla with good dirty talk and excellent use of lube ;)

Favorite Lines in the Book:

Shani:

Ava: I’m pregnant….

Mal: When we were together the whole time. Wait… You seriously fucked a guy while sitting right next to me.

Ava: he told me he was a yoga instructor but I think he was just really bendy.

PSA: don’t have unprotected sex with people/ especially at a music festival

Bridget:

“I’m sorry I ran,” I admitted in a whisper. “I’m sorry I let you,” he said right back. - Mal to Brooks

He glanced up at me from under his lashes. He looked… embarrassed. “I’m sorry I came so fast. I wanted to make it good for you.” I stared at him, wondering if this was a trick. “What? Are you kidding?” “No. I had all these plans to take it slow and kiss you and feel you and… well, I didn’t really mean to hump your leg and then masturbate all over you.” Brooks to Mal

“I’m going to go down on my knees for you,” I said in a low voice right into his ear. “Going to suck your dick right here where anyone could catch us. Anyone at all could walk up. Brooks to Mal

“Nothing. It’s… no. Nothing. Jesus. I bought you lunch because…” He clamped his lips closed and shook his head. “Because.” Brooks looked everywhere but at me. “Anyway… I should probably go. But here’s my cell number if you need anything. Just text me, okay?” Brooks & Mal

Shani’s from Goodreads:

 Rin

Cute, humorous and easy read. Nothing spectacular, but overall enjoyable.

- It took me some time to warm up to Ava, she was acting really petty at first. Damn, that woman could hold a grudge; but she did redeem herself.

- It honestly felt very rushed, very insta-love-ish, BUT, as I already mentioned... times two, which just makes it so much worse. Yes, you read right. Not ONE but TWO couples actually fall so deeply in love within the span of a couple of days that they uproot their whole lives and move to a small town ... That's just UGH to me

- the big stupid misunderstanding trope due to severe lack of communication that - you guessed it - leads to a temporary separation. Honestly, I feel like I need to emphasize how much I dislike misunderstandings, and this one here just seemed out of the blue and tbh slightly ridiculous to me.

(like seriously, they never even had a conversation about the future of their relationship, not that they had that much time for actually talking within the few days... But hey, that didn't stop Mal from jumping to unreflected conclusions based on something he overheard.)

Bridget’s from Goodreads:

Carol [Goodreads Addict] rated it 5 stars it was amazing

Shelves: m-m, contemporary-romance

Fakers is a stand alone M/M romance by Lucy Lennox and May Archer. This is my second book by Lucy and my very first by May. First, just let me get this out of the way: I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! I want to move to this crazy town and live there forever. I want to be besties with all of these characters.

Worth the Read?

Shani: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Recommend the read and I can see how the next books would be better as this book had to establish the town and world.

Bridget: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ what a fun time. I was so happy at the end I decided to treat myself with book 2!
